Beyond the fundamental work of an acting technique, today’s actor evolves in a world full of new challenges and opportunities. The Principonauts offer a variety of trainings and follow-ups, from career and marketing coaching to screenwriting and film production.

The challenges tackled by what became First Principles Acting made it possible to develop a whole range of tools useful for creativity, authentic effectiveness, and healthy productivity.

The programmes are initially built on a knowledge of the different approaches to the actor’s craft and their foundations, but also on other traditional phenomenological teachings as well as the findings of educational science and train-the-trainer methods.

Everything is designed to relieve actors, artists and innovators of the worries and frustrations of research in areas where it can prove tedious, in order to offer them simple, clear and practical programmes, where the sources are available and the theory accessible for those who wish to go further.

FROM MEISNER TECHNIQUE TO FIRST PRINCIPLES ACTING

Based on a few simple yet powerful exercises, the Meisner technique may seem easy to teach. However, it is important for the teacher to understand the flow of the text and the playing directions in a way that is adapted to your personality and your individual problems.

Originally founded by an acting student who noticed the vast inconsistencies in how the Meisner technique was being taught worldwide, and how poorly understood it remained in France, Principonauts was created to bring teachers from around the world to Paris, offering sound, rigorous and complementary approaches to this remarkable technique.

It has since become a research and development centre drawing from the rich history of personal liberation techniques in performance, free from dogma or bias, with the goal of offering an ever clearer and more effective practice of the craft.

The main programme, formerly known as Meisner & Systemic Coaching, which integrates a range of tools to individualise and direct the work, is now called First Principles Acting.

Based on nearly 8 years of investigative work, without dogmatism or bias towards particular teachers or teachings, Principonauts offers a rich and complete approach to the beautiful technique of Sanford Meisner. True to its history and functions at every stage, from the rehearsal exercise to the different approaches to the text.

Contemporary research

In the continuity of the efforts undertaken by Meisner and some of his successors, Principonauts offers you a multidisciplinary research and development program, integrating Ericksonian hypnosis, NLP, evolutionary psychology, cognitive science and traditional meditation techniques.

Career coaching

To offer you professional visibility, our career coaching program includes work on your classic communication tools (CV, demo tape, photo book) and contemporary mediums (website and social network marketing), punctuated by regular exchanges with casting directors, agents and French directors.

Pedagogy

Your teachers are trained through a renowned, certifying train-the-trainer programme, and our programmes are built with clarity and effectiveness in mind, informed by educational science and the findings of andragogy.
The courses are designed as a whole, following the same fundamental principles, so that each new learning sheds light on and enriches the others.

Financing

As a member of a national cooperative of training organizations, Principonauts develops access to financing for your registrations, as well as payment facilities. The programs are also designed to empower you in your work outside of class, including educational appendices and online resources in the face-to-face course fee.

Between custom short films for its actors, writing and production programs on the smartphone for dedicated festivals and staging student shows, Principonauts multiplies access to professional experiences, the ultimate goals of the work, and individualized coaching to allow each person to create their own opportunities independently.
